What’s a toilet worth? Billions of dollars, actually! The economic cost of inadequate sanitation facilities is a whopping $260 billion annually. India, a country with one of the worst sanitation records, faces an annual loss of $54billion – that’s more than the entire GDP of Croatia!

This infographic highlights how inadequate facilities leads not only to long-term health issues like diarrhea and stunting, but has a catastrophic effect on education and productivity, and a domino effect on industries like tourism and healthcare. The biggest loss, which cannot be costed or measured, is the loss of human dignity.
