Industrial revolutions aren’t always apparent when they are happening, but when we have a chance to look back on them we realize just how much they changed the world. This is true of the first industrial revolution, which was powered by steam and later by internal combustion engines, and which mechanized many processes that were previously done using manual labor.
The next industrial revolution took place when the assembly line was invented, and it revolutionized manufacturing and created processes that are still in use today. Later came the technological revolution, and now all that technology is starting to be able to speak to itself without the intervention of humans, leading to industry 4.0.
