Cardiac arrests are defined as sudden loss of blood flow caused by the heart’s inability to effectively pump. It’s often wrongly confused with a heart attack – however, the principal difference is that a heart attack is a ‘circulation’ problem caused by blocks, whereas a cardiac arrest is an ‘electrical’ problem, where the hearts electrical system malfunctions and the heart stops beating.
