In 2002, the CIA flew an unmanned drone for the first time, for a targeted killing. However, the first unmanned aerial vehicle goes back to 1839 when Austrian soldiers attacked Venice with an explosive-filled hot air balloon. Through the centuries, drone technology continued to focus on military usage and surveillance.

Today, drones are increasingly in the entertainment and media industry, even for package deliveries. This infographic highlights the rules, regulations and prohibitions for flying drones.
