From Birth to Extinction? Diesel’s Changing Fortune – Infographic

It all started in 1893 when Rudolf Diesel, a German engineer and inventor, created the first diesel-engine prototype. Sadly, this part of the story ended in disaster, when Rudolf Diesel mysteriously disappeared from a German SS ship sailing to London, and his body was found floating in the North Sea.

The second part of the story starts from when Mercedes-Benz launched the first diesel passenger car in 1936, and diesel car sales shot up for the next 80 years, till 2015, when it collapsed. This infographic captures the entire story. Question is: How will the third part unfold?
