The Link Between Human Development and Energy Poverty – Infographic

Energy poverty is defined as lack of access to energy services like electricity and clean cooking fuel. Given that both are practically a prerequisite for modern living, the statistic fact that over 2.3 billion people still do not have access to this basic service is horrifying!

What’s worse, these same people spend billions of dollars to purchase alternate fossil-fuel resources like kerosene which is a fuel with dangerous side-effects! A paradoxical situation indeed, especially since there’s enough research to demonstrate the positive link between a strong energy grid and poverty reduction, as discussed in this thought-provoking infographic.
