There was a time when pregnant women were cossetted and indulged, encouraged to eat in significantly larger quantities (after all, you’re eating for two!), resulting in weight gain way above the prescribed norms. And there is today, when moms-to-be shudder at the idea of weight gain, worrying overtly about the damage to their fit, toned bodies.
