In 1903, two men walked into the magnificent splendor of the Yosemite Valley, and spend a night in the open, in close proximity with nature’s elements. They were President Theodore Roosevelt and Naturalist John Muir. And their journey resulted in the creation of the National Park Service.
This unique commitment to nature led to 401 national parks spread over 84 million acres, all the way from Alaska to Hawaii. Untouched, spectacular nature which, as demonstrated in this infographic, are the American people’s oxygen tanks, with many millions visiting them every year.
