A lung nodule, or pulmonary nodule, is a small, roundish or oval-shaped growth in the lung. These growths are small masses of tissue and are also referred to as ‘spot on the lung’ or ‘coin lesion’, whose size can vary from a miniature 5mm radius (the size of a pinhead!) to 24mm which is the diameter of a quarter.
However, don’t panic if you hear the term – it’s quite a common phenomenon and only a small percentage turn out to be cancerous. To know more about lung nodules, the cause and the prevention or cure, read this detailed infographic.
