Eastern Equine Encephalitis, EEE for short, is a nasty life-threatening disease caused by the mosquito borne Togavirus. Sometimes also referred to as the Triple E sickness, EEE is a viral disease that transmits to both humans and horses. The fatality ratio among horses is especially high, at 90% or more.
Sadly, there’s no known treatment as yet, and the only way to protect equine animals is annual protective vaccinations. This infographic highlights the signs and symptoms of the disease, and the various steps, in addition to the vaccine, that are essential to keeping horses safe.
