The importance of water for horse health cannot be overstated. It is an essential element for good horse care, and an insufficiently hydrated horse can develop life threatening complications like impaction colic. Unfortunately, horses do not like to drink water in winter or colder weather, perhaps because they don’t like the cold sensation in their mouths. In fact, horses are known to drink 40% more water in warm weather than in winter.
