‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ is a common English proverb which highlights the truism that continuous work, without any leisure activity, is harmful for health and well-being. In past generations, sports and hobbies were the recommended panacea, and educational institutions actively built these into the school curriculum.
Unfortunately, as presented in this infographic, the modern-day demand to ‘excel’ has taken its toll on students: various surveys provide insights on how students are struggling with overwhelming stress, in the classroom and the sports arena, as they struggle to match standards and expectations.
