Heroin – a six-letter word that spells death and destruction. It destroys not just the addicted person, but the entire family. Its, by far, the deadliest of all opiates (drugs derived from the opium poppy). And, it’s actually devouring humans – heroin-related deaths increased 750% in the years from 2002-17. In sheer numbers, about 948,000 Americans used heroin in 2016, and the death toll was around 16,000!
However, heroin addiction is treatable (though one the most difficult addictions to quit), and rehab is critical for recovery. Read more about the deathly tentacles of heroin in this infographic.
