The American Heart Association’s recommended daily dose of sugar for men is 150-calories or 9 teaspoons, and 100-calories or 6 teaspoons for women. However, it’s important to remember that all sugars are not equal – a half-cup of fresh strawberries will contain 3.5 grams of healthy fruit sugar, but a half-cup of strawberry ice cream will contain almost 5 times more in grams – 15 grams! Moreover, it will be unhealthy fat calories!
This infographic highlights some more examples to drive home the hard fact that natural sugars are better and that should be the mainstay of your diet – not added sugars.
