Eating food from freezers is commonplace today – the sheer convenience of being able to store products for a long span of time cannot be denied. Whether it’s meats and poultry, frozen seasonal vegetables, or the week’s quota of pre-cooked meals, we’d be completely stumped if the freezer was suddenly removed from our kitchens.
Interestingly, deep-freezing isn’t a modern idea at all – it goes back to ancient times, when the Greeks, Romans and Chinese constructed giant ice-cellars to protect their foods. This infographic captures the history of freezers and frozen food from way back in 3000 BC, to present times.
