Exporters may have a hard time differentiating between a freight forwarder and a customs broker and mistake them for one position with two names. Both titles may seem similar but they have some differences between these two professions.
A freight forwarder is either an agent or a company that specializes in logistics and the organization of shipments for goods transportation. A customs broker, however, serves as a guide for importers and exporters to meet the requirements provided by customs authorities.
By definition, a freight forwarder and a customs broker are two different professions with some similarities especially since the former can offer services that are similar to that of the latter.
Many business owners consider getting the services of both positions but it still important to know their respective responsibilities. See this infographic by Excelsior for more details regarding the two professions.
