The Visual Arts arena comprises a wealth of artist material, collected over the centuries. For obvious reasons, all of this stringently copyrighted – huge funds are spent on the preservation of art, and copyright ensures acknowledgement/compensation, and prevents mis-use. Unfortunately, copyright clauses are, often, so harsh, they discourage referencing and developmental work by academics, researchers, museums, even artists.
