The institution of marriage has been there forever, but divorce is a comparatively recent concept, and not ages-old as we assume! In fact, the first divorce act was legalized in England only in 1857 – the one and only precedent being Henry VIIIs divorce from Anne almost 300 years back in 1552!
However, America followed another century later, with the Divorce Reform Act in 1969. Sadly, it opened the floodgates and, today, almost 50% of marriages end up in the Divorce Court. This infographic gives data-based insights on why marriage is fast becoming a losing proposition.
