There have been a number of pandemics through the course of history that have decimated populations – Smallpox, Tuberculosis, Black Death, to name a few. But, the history of the 20th century stands out for the number of pandemics that occurred: Flu, HIV/Aids, Influenza, Asian Flu, Hongkong Flu, Swine Flu and Ebola have killed close to 90 million people in these hundred years!
Why is there a marked increase in the spread of disease? Can it be prevented? These questions are discussed in this infographic. Pandemic preparedness cannot be a knee-jerk reaction, but a comprehensive action plan.
