It might be time to kiss passwords goodbye for good. Passwords were never meant to keep things secured, and they are just too risky when it counts. Passwords and even other authentication methods like multifactor authentication and one time passwords or login links still rely on shared secrets, and the problem is that secrets are too easy to find out.
Newer authentication methods like biometrics are a lot more secure because they are more difficult to fake, although there have been some notable exceptions with false positives with things like photographs being able to trick facial recognition.
